Seven Starling | FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Seven Starling prescribe controlled substances?
Due to regulatory and patient safety concerns, Seven Starling providers do not prescribe controlled substances. This includes stimulants such as ADHD medications, sedatives or benzodiazepines, and opiates. We recommend in-person care and follow up for these medications.
Who is Seven Starling a good fit for?
Seven Starling is designed for people experiencing Anxiety, Depression or Trauma during fertility challenges, miscarriage or pregnancy loss, abortion, pregnancy, postpartum (0-2 years), early parenthood (2-5 years), perimenopause (any time period while experiencing symptoms), and menopause (0-2 years postmenopause).
In order to join Seven Starling you must be 18 years or older and currently reside in one of the 20+ states we support. Seven Starling is not a good fit for people looking for emergency support or for people who have a history of Schizophrenia, Psychosis or Bipolar disorder. We strongly believe the best care model for these conditions is in person care and encourage you to seek support. Always call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room if you are in crisis.
Does Seven Starling offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT)?
No. Hormone therapy is not available at Seven Starling. Patients who want to discuss hormone therapy or other menopause-specific medical treatment should be referred to an appropriate medical provider such as a PCP, gynecologist, menopause specialist, or other prescriber.

How am I matched with a therapist?
Matching you to a Seven Starling therapist that fits your needs is incredibly important to us. After you sign up for Seven Starling, we’ll ask you a number of questions about your individual preferences, therapy goals, and mental health history. We’ll use this information to match you with a therapist that we think will be a great fit for you. 98% of Seven Starling members stay with their first match, but we're always happy to accommodate rematches as long as there is availability.
Can I change my therapist if they aren't a fit?
Yes! Ensuring you find the right care team fit is so important to us. If you feel that your therapist is not the right fit for you, please let your Patient Care Advocate know by emailing them at support@sevenstarling.com. Pending therapist availability, we are happy to rematch you to another therapist that is a better fit for your needs.
What credentials do Seven Starling therapists have?
All Seven Starling therapists are masters level clinicians with years of experience in women's mental health. Our specialized clinical team is trained in supporting you through life's biggest transitions. Our clinicians are licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed professional therapists (LPC), or other equivalent levels of licensure.
What is group therapy?
Group therapy at Seven Starling is optional, but incredibly powerful. Our therapist-led small groups consist of 10 or fewer members and are organized by life stage — such as fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, loss, and menopause. Each session includes educational and self-care tools, with the option to share your experience or simply listen. Our groups are designed as an extension of individual therapy, offering a supportive community space to reflect and build on your one-on-one work.
How am I matched to a group?
We take great care in ensuring a great group match for those patients who choose to join a Seven Starling group. You are matched with your group of 10 or less other women based on what you're currently experiencing (e.g., fertility journeys, pregnant, postpartum, experiencing loss, parenthood), state of residence, schedule, preferences, and goals.
When does my group meet?
If a group is part of your care plan, we will work with you to find a group that meets your schedule. Your group sessions will be at the same time and day every week or other week unless prior arrangements are made to accommodate scheduling conflicts. While your group forms, you may have weekly individual sessions with your therapist.
Does Seven Starling offer medication management?
Yes! Many women suffering from mental health challenges can benefit from a combination of therapy and medication. Women’s mental health needs specialized, comprehensive care that addresses the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. That’s why Seven Starling takes a holistic approach where we don’t just treat symptoms but explore what is contributing to them and support you with evidence-based interventions.
Is group therapy a required component of my plan?
No, groups are optional! You can absolutely decide to join a group or not at your own pace. Most patients do find them to be an incredibly powerful part of their experience.
